On March 2, 2011 The House of Commons passed motion 575 to declare the Wednesday of National Forest Week as National Tree Day. In conjunction, Town Council declared September 19-23, 2011 as "Smoky Lake Tree & Shrub Planting & Pruning Week"
- We are proud to share this community initiative by offering H.A.Kostash Students trees to plant to raise money
- Community groups can plant trees as a fundraiser
- Trees are a very important part of us and we want to make sure that the environmental and economic benefits to our citizens are celebrated so the Town is offering
- a free pruning course for the public (tools will be provided)
- free trees and shrubs for residents to plant in their yards
