Victoria District Economic Development Strategy

Big News!

The Town of Smoky Lake and Smoky Lake County are working together on theVictoria District Economic Development Strategy, a project to support tourism growth and enhancement in the Smoky Lake Region.  Initially focused only on the Historic Victoria District, the strategy has expanded to include the tourism assets of the entire Smoky Lake Region, and planning for each phase of development is underway.

On May 29, 2020, the Town of Smoky Lake and Smoky Lake County Councils approved a public engagement plan, which brings the Strategy to the community for its input and advice.  Due to COVID measures in place, we will use on-line forums, conference calls, tele-town halls and one-on-one meetings to connect with you.

All input will be brought to the Public Hearing for the bylaw June 26, 2020 and presented to the Joint County and Town Councils. We are hoping you will join us at the hearing (virtually) as well!

This is only the beginning! The feedback from this round of public engagement will inform how we share, protect, and preserve our community and the ecological and heritage assets of the Victoria District and Smoky Lake Region, for years to come.
